“Pay attention, understand the feeling; the most beautiful colours are happening all around you”
Esteban Cortazar’s S/S 2019 screams summer and evokes a desire to travel with a collection which focuses on soft, fluid, and feminine drapes alongside more masculine, tailored cuts. He creates a juxtaposition of style, while still reflecting a female energy through the use of silk and satin materials.
For his Fall 2019 collection, Cortazar maintains his focus on bold and bright hues with which he isn’t afraid to experiment, despite the season. Within this collection his use of tailoring is more prominent, but the inclusion of romantic sleeves and a loose drape, re-emphasises a contrast from his previous styles. His use of form is inspirational here; once again, the femininity of his creations are maintained despite the use of stronger, distinct cuts and his signature style is maintained through his use of drape and materials.
This collection goes beyond the use of colour by including prints and tones which amplify contrast. Using designs by his artist father, the prints compliment Cortazar’s use of colour beautifully with detailed illustrations and graphics printed across shirts. The attention to detail allows the prints to stand out across the collection, despite the use of statement neon hues throughout. The use of a primary blue gives more depth to layered pieces as the prints are made the star of the show.
It is inspiring to see other designers using strong prints across the seasons. Cortazar proves that bold colours and prints can be worn all year round and can be dressed up or down accordingly.
We’re firm believers that shape, colour and print are some of the easiest ways to make an entrance and stand out from the crowd. Equally, if what is required is a pop of colour to an otherwise monotone look, print will do the job. Whether it’s lunch with friends or a formal event, a silk printed shirts will suit any occasion and is perfect, not only your spring wardrobe, but when the colder months start to approach once more.
