We are thrilled that the (very handsome) mixologist at Pontoon has created a bespoke cocktail, exclusively for Longstaff Longstaff. In fact he has created three very different cocktails which we will reveal in due course! This one is beautifully dark and luscious; perfect to drink while wearing a fabulous silk robe or the long silk pyjama trousers and tunic. Getting ready to go out has never been so elegant. Just make sure that someone in a dinner jacket shakes it up and serves it to you in a chilled martini glass. You might decide that the best party is going to be at home.
Ingredients
– 50ml Belvedere Citrus Vodka
– 10ml Chambord black raspberry liqueur
– 15ml cranberry juice
– 5ml lemon juice
– 5ml spiced syrup *see below
– 1 teaspoon blueberry jam
– 4 blackberries
The Syrup
In a saucepan, slowly heat the following until all sugar is dissolved. Let it cool and then refrigerate. This will make enough for about 15 drinks and will keep for a week in the fridge.
– 125ml water
– 100g castor sugar
– 2 cloves
– A pinch of ground nutmeg
– A slightly bigger pinch of ground cinnamon
– Plenty of ice cubes for shaking
The Cocktail
Put two martini glasses in the freezer to chill. In the cocktail shaker, muddle 3 blackberries with the blueberry jam (to muddle the fruit, use a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon to gently crush the fruit and jam). Fill the shaker with 5 or 6 ice cubes, add the Belvedere citrus vodka, Chambord black raspberry liqueur and a touch of spiced syrup and then add the remaining ingredients. To get the cocktail properly cold, the shaker must be shaken vigorously until condensation appears on the outside. Double strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a whole blackberry to make a richly coloured, silky cocktail.
